We’ve prepared a Summer Camp at Lingua Cottage
for upper elementary school students (Grades 3–6) during the 2025 summer vacation. ♥

Here is a summary of FAQ from parents during the camp consultation.

Q1. Will my child attend the camp every day during the program period?

A1.
No, daily attendance is not required.
You can choose 10 or more preferred days during the camp period and make a reservation in advance.

The program is mainly held on weekdays,
but if your child wishes to attend on weekends, feel free to discuss it with us.

Please note: Weekend sessions do not include group English programs.
On weekends, students will focus on private lessons, self-directed learning, or reading time.

Q2. What are the daily program hours?

A2.
The standard program runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (6 hours per day).
If you require extended hours, please contact us to discuss options.

Q3. What activities are included in the summer camp program?

A3.
Each day includes a 2-hour English program (individual + group),
featuring fun and effective activities like speech practice, writing, English drama, pop songs, and language games.

Other activities include:

  • Guided reading

  • 10-minute daily mindfulness

  • Self-awareness activities

  • Support for self-directed study

  • Lunch time

  • Occasional outdoor activities

Q4. Is lunch provided during the camp?

A4.
No, lunch is not included.
Students should bring their own lunch.
If your child forgets, a meal can be purchased from a nearby deli,
but with the extra cost.

Q5. Who is the teacher ?

A5.
Please refer to the profile of Debbie (Sanghwa Lee), the founder and head instructor of Lingua Cottage.

One assistant teacher, who is fluent in Korean, English, and Japanese, will also be present to support the program.

👩‍🏫 About the Instructor

Debbie (Sangha Lee, the founder and head instructor at Lingua Cottage)

I graduated from Sookmyung Women’s University in Korea and completed the TESL Diploma in Canada.
I also have experience living and working in Australia through a working holiday program.

With over 21 years of teaching experience, I’ve worked at major English institutes

including Sogang SLP and YBM, where I served as a senior instructor and head of the academic department.

I’ve taught a wide range of students—from kindergarteners to adults —
including 4 years at an international kindergarten,
and 6 years at Korean entrance exam academies for elementary through high school students,

located near Tokyo Korean School.

Currently, I hold permanent residency in Japan, having lived in Saitama for 8 years and now Tokyo for over 10 years.

I’m also a working mom raising a trilingual Korean(half)+Japanese(half) child, who just started her first year of high school in 2025.

In March 2025, I launched Lingua Cottage, a cozy language and cultural space in Higashi-Shinjuku, Tokyo,

designed to support meaningful learning, warm connections, and growth for all generations.

Q6. Where is Lingua Cottage located?

A6.
We’re just a 2-minute walk from Exit B3 of Higashi-Shinjuku Station.

For detailed directions, please refer to the “Access” section on this website.

📍 Address: 2-2-2 Okubo, Shinjuku-ku (2nd floor via the outdoor stairs next to the building’s parking lot)

Q7. Will other customers use the space during summer camp hours?

A7.
No. During camp hours, the study area will be reserved exclusively for camp participants and teachers.
You can rest assured that the space is used only by children and staff.

Lingua Cottage also has two security cameras installed, and
entry is controlled via a secure access link system—unauthorized visitors cannot enter without permission.

Q8. My child is bilingual but doesn’t speak much Korean. What language is used during the program?

A8.
This summer camp welcomes children who speak Korean or Japanese as their first language.

The main language used in the English program is English,
but Korean and Japanese are used when necessary to support understanding.

Q9. What is the "self-awareness program"?

A9.
Many children and teens today lack the time to reflect deeply on themselves.

This program offers time to think about:

  • What they like

  • What they are good at

  • What they want to do

  • How they relate to family and others

  • Their role in society and current issues

We hope this helps broaden and deepen their thinking in a meaningful way.

Q10. My child tends to spend all day on their phone or playing games. Will phones be allowed during class time?

A10.
During the Lingua Cottage Summer Camp, students are required to hand in their phones upon arrival.
They will be returned at the end of the day unless there is an emergency.

If parents need to contact their child urgently, please call Lingua Cottage directly.

Q11. What is the cost of attending the summer camp?

A11.
The fee is 5,500 yen per day (including tax) for a 6-hour session.
A minimum of 10 days is required to enroll.

We believe that noticeable learning outcomes can only be expected after attending at least 10 sessions.

Q12. Is the camp held during the Obon holiday?

A12.
No, there will be no summer camp during the Obon holiday (August 11–17).

Q13. Is there a pick-up/drop-off service?

A13.
Unfortunately, Lingua Cottage does not offer transportation services at this time.

Q14. What if my child suddenly gets sick and cannot attend on a reserved day?

A14.
Yes, we allow up to two make-up days for unexpected absences due to personal emergencies.

For any schedule changes, please inform the instructor as early as possible to help with planning.

Q15. Is the camp fee paid in advance? What is the refund policy?

A15.
Yes, the camp operates on a prepayment basis and enrollment is limited to 7 participants.
Priority is given to those who complete payment first.

This policy ensures stable operation without last-minute cancellations.

Refund policy:

  • Full refund for cancellations made by July 7

  • 50% refund for cancellations from July 8 to July 21

  • No refunds for cancellations on or after July 22

We appreciate your understanding in advance.
