Hi, I'm Debbie, the main staff member at Lingua Cottage.

I was born and raised in Seoul, Korea,
and I’ve now been living in Japan for 18 years
(10 years in Saitama + 8 years in Tokyo).

I've worked as an English instructor for over 20 years,
and I also offer private Korean lessons.
I love teaching, learning, and sharing language and culture,
so I dreamed of creating a cozy and peaceful space
in the heart of Tokyo where people from different backgrounds
can come together naturally.

(Originally planned before COVID… but it took 5 extra years!)

🏡 What is Lingua Cottage?

Lingua Cottage is a multi-functional space designed for:

• Focused study or reading in a calm environment

• Small seminars and community gatherings

• Language exchange, lessons, workshops, and meetings

• Self-service café with coffee, herbal tea, soda drinks, and light snacks

• Feel free to bring your own food (Please avoid food that leaves residue or liquid behind or has too strong smell.) 

• Microwave, refrigerator, and electric kettle are available.

🛠 We also provide:

• Wi-Fi, power outlets, soundproof booths

• Classroom essentials, phone stands, table partitions, lockers

• If there’s anything else you need, just let us know anytime!

💡 Flexible usage:

• Hourly or monthly membership

• Connect with people from around the world while learning English, Korean, or Japanese!

When you think “Shinjuku,” you might imagine noise and chaos —
but Lingua Cottage is a quiet, peaceful spot just 2 minutes from Higashi-Shinjuku Station.

There’s a park nearby (Toyama Park) for a refreshing walk,
and within a 5-minute walk you’ll find everything:
convenience stores, Daiso, supermarkets, bento shops, restaurants, and coin laundry!

It’s the perfect place to study, relax, or meet with others 💛

It’s a large apartment building, but the 1st–2nd floors are for stores & offices.
Don’t enter through the main building entrance —
Instead, walk 30m past the Saboten tonkatsu shop and take the brick stairs.
You will see our entrance door right away !
